How did Christiani-tea get started? 

The idea for Christiani-tea came to me, not surprisingly, at a tea party. My oldest child, Abby, was starting the 6th grade in a few months. As a mom, and a Christian mom, I felt God’s pull at my heart to talk to her about some difficult topics. I had purchased a book, Gentle Passages, that gave me the idea to have a tea party with Abby to help the discussion.

We used our fine china and talked about 2 Timothy 2:20-21 “In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for noble purposes and some for ignoble.  If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.”

As we shared that special moment, talking about God’s desire for us to be set apart from what the world has to offer us and to be set apart to Him; I realized that the tea I was drinking promoted a world view very different from my own. I said to my daughter, “I wish there were a Christian tea.” And so Christiani-tea was born!
